Saving Energy is something that each one of us can do daily to help save the environment. This a listing of resources relating to energy efficency.
Energy Saving Trust Wales provide free energy efficiency advice to all domestic households across Wales, while also encouraging the introduction of energy saving programmes. Their website provides information for homeowners and small businesses, and a number of information sheets on saving energy, wind energy, solar water heating, biomass energy and hydroelectric energy.
The My Home website, provided by Energy Saving Trust, informs the public of ways to save money and energy, thereby helping the environment. It was established in order to raise public awareness of energy efficiency in the United Kingdom, and is a part of the Government's strategy to deliver a reduction in carbon dioxide emissions by 20 percent by the year 2010. The website is mainly concerned with the loss of energy in the home, especially through walls, boilers, fridges, washing machines and lightbulbs, but also provides ideas on how to stop this loss of money and energy, and provides details of the grants that are available to help install energy saving measures.
West Wales Eco Centre's website contains information about domestic energy efficiency and renewable technologies, and is aimed at both environmentalists and educators. The centre, which has an Energy Efficiency Advice Centre and an Eco House which includes a Visitor Centre and offices, is based in Newport, Pembrokeshire, and is an committed to educating the public about energy conservation and energy use, and their associated impacts on the environment. The website contains information about its projects, and its environmental education programme, and also includes factsheets on biomass, geothermal energy, global warming, hydropower, solar electricity, solar hot water, eco centre solar roof, transport and wind energy.
Sustainable Gwynedd provides information sheets on saving energy. The website includes sections for schools, homeowners and businesses.
The Centre for Sustainable Energy aims to find environmentally sound solutions to problems faced by individuals, organisations and communities. Their website gives details of research carried out and the relations of the centre with various local authorities within Britain including Wales, and also includes a section for schools.
The Green Electricity website also provides an overview of renewable energy resources as does the education section of the PowerEd website, the Think Energy pages provided by British Gas, Schools for Energy, and the energy section of the Science museum website.
Real Cymru provide free impartial advice, information and access to grants for energy efficiency and renewable energy projects for the people of Wales. The website provides information regarding wind, hydro and solar power, and also incldues documents that provide information about the benefits of renewable energy sources, home heating with renewable energy and the different methods of generating renewable electricity in Wales.
