This is a collection of photographs taken during the 1984 miners strike. Many photographs are of pickets, rallies and demonstrations in the South Wales area. The photographs are a project that the author, Martin Shakeshaft, undertook in 1984. He is now working to photograph some of the people he photographed then to see how their lives have changed and what they are doing now.

Presents a website chronicling the Aberfan Disaster of 1966. The site posts information on the disaster and on valuable resources held elsewhere on the subject, including articles and archival materials. The main focus of the website is the research project undertaken looking at the Governmental response to the disaster. The final results of this research project were published as a book by Iain McLean & Martin Johnes, Aberfan:Disasters and Government (Welsh Academic Press, 2000).

I. C. Rapoport is an American photographer who has had his work published in many well known magazines. He is known in Wales as he spent time in Aberfan following the 1966 coal waste tip disaster that killed 144 people including 116 children. The website is a collection of his photographs including a number on the Aberfan disaster aftermath.

The CWM (Coalfield Web Materials) project covers the south Wales coal mining industry and digitises photographic and oral history (audio, video) material contained within the University of Wales' South Wales Coalfield Collection. The project covers a wide range of themes including events such as the many miners' strike in Wales, life in the coalfield (focusing on economy, society, religion and politics) and a short biography of people such as Aneurin Bevan, SO Davies and Keir Hardie. Digging up the Past is the photographic archive from the south Wales coalfied. It is a collection of photographs depicting the history of coal mining in South Wales.
