Title AWEMA - All Wales Ethnic Minority Association Best Cymru.
Summary AWEMA was established in response to devolution, and acts as a link between the National Assembly Government and the Black Minority Ethnic Communities. It also acts as a consultative organisation that strives with the Assembly to achieve equality in Wales by working with partners, community organisations and volunteers. In the wake of this work eight Subject Committees have been established, which include Health, Education and Training, Economic Development and Culture and the Arts.

Summary AWETU ('Our Unity' in Swahili), is the first national organisation dedicated solely to working with the public and private sector, user and survivor groups, and voluntary agencies to promote and foster the mental health of Black and Minority Ethnic individuals, families, and communities in Wales. The website can be used to learn about the projects and initiatives on offer as well as educational options. Contact details and related links are also provided.

Summary BAWSO is an all Wales voluntary organisation that provides specialist services to Black and Minority Ethnic women and children, made homeless through a threat of domestic violence or fleeing domestic violence in Wales. They are affiliated to Welsh Women's Aid and work closely with other women's aid organisations in Wales. Their website provides comprehensive information about themselves and their work, with information about services provdied, service users, events and partnerships. The site also includes details of a new mentoring project for boys, a list of networking and partnership links and full contact details.

Summary The BE4 Project is programme of research commissioned to improve the quality of information and appropriate treatment in mental health and social care to selected Black and Minority Ethnic groups living in the Cardiff wards of Butetown, Grangetown, and Riverside. The target groups are people of African, Caribbean, Chinese, South Asian and Vietnamese descent. The site provides information about the project, a list of other projects and initiatives in Wales, and various progress reports, as well as numerous articles from the past and contact details.

Summary BEST (Black minority Ethnic Support Team) is a partnership between AWEMA (All Wales Ethnic Minority Association), BVSNW (Black Voluntary Sector Network Wales), MEWN Cymru (Minority Ethnic Women’s Network) and the Scarman Trust funded by the Welsh Assembly Government under the Communities First programme. Summary The Black Welsh Film Festival provides an opportunity for black and ethnic filmakers in Wales to showcase their work. The festival has been on a world tour visting such places as the Carribean, Chicago and India. The website provides details of the tour and of the short films that are being shown at the festival. Many of the short films explore the experiences of migrating to Wales from places such as Barbados and Sierra Leone. There is also an online entry form on the website for those who wish to participate in future events.

Summary The Central African Association (CAA) was formed in September 2001 to address social deprivation that refugees and asylum seekers experience when they first arrive in Wales. They provide support for new arrivals and provide advice on a number of important issues for their integration. It is a one-stop point for refugees and asylum seekers from the Central African region for advocacy, information, guidance, and support on resettlement issues including education, employment, health, housing, immigration, self-reliance and training.
