Summary BeWEHL (Bettering Women's Education, Health and Lifestyle) is a Welsh Assembly funded project that operates in Bettws, near Newport. They are part of the WA Sustainable Health Action Research Projects and are about raising women's confidence and aspirations on these estates. They also have a sister project called CHILL that works on the estates of Alway and Ringland in Newport.

Summary CeLL is the Centre for Lifelong Learning at University of Glamorgan. They offer courses to those who normally feel excluded from higher education. Title Connecting Communities Cymru Department of Adult and Continuing Education.
Summary The Connecting Communities Cymru (CCC) project is a collaboration between the Department of Adult Continuing Education of the University of Wales Swansea and twelve other community partners. They work together to develop community based lifelong learning using Information and Communications Technology. The partnership aims to bring learning closer to home by creating a south west Wales wide network of online community education, installing up to date ICT equipment and broadband Internet connections in the communities involved and providing access to learning opportunities. Information about Connecting Communities Cymru is provided on the website, inlcuding details about CCC centres, the e-curriculum, tutors, learners and research. The project is partly funded by the European Regional Development Fund.

Title First Campus- Language Zone Cardiff University.
Summary First Campus is a partnership of higher education institutions, further education colleges and schools in South East Wales. The project was established to raise educational standards and to make a major contribution to meeting the Welsh Assembly Government targets for Reaching Higher Reaching Wider. This particular First Campus project provides support for school pupils studying GCSE French, Spanish, Welsh and German; and for FE students studying Italian A Level and involves a combination of visits to the school or college, and on-line mentoring using Cardiff University’s web-based Language Zone. The website provides a collection of web resources such as a regular online Newsletter published in six European Languages (English, Welsh, French, German, Italian and Spanish). 15 schools and 1 Further education college are participating in the pilot project.

Summary Glamorgan GATES is a partnership between the University of Glamorgan and Communities First. The project is aimed at all sections of the community. They develop imaginative and innovative methods of lifelong learning through activities and events, rather than a formulated learning framework, in partnership with local groups and individuals to ensure relevance and appropriateness to the needs of the local community. The aim is to make a significant impact on the currently low levels of educational participation in further or higher education in valley based communities. GATES is based in Merthyr Tydfil.

Title REAL : Race & Ethnicity Access to Learning University of Glamorgan.
Summary Race & Ethnicity Access to Learning (REAL) is a research project which will examine ways to improve progression and success in higher education amongst minority ethnic groups. Summary Refugee Week was first held in 1998, and is a UK wide festival that celebrates the contribution made by refugees to UK life and promotes understanding of why people become refugees. Title RISE : Learning is for Everyone RISE.
Summary RISE (formerly The Learning Network) is a partnership of all those with an interest or stake in Lifelong Learning and the provision of learning in the five counties of Blaenau Gwent, Monmouthshire, Torfaen, Caerphilly and Newport. They have over 200 learning centres and 2000 courses, all listed within the RISE databases. The most significant innovation is the involvement of learners right from the beginning of RISE. Partners are drawn from learners and from all the major providers of lifelong learning, support and advice in the area. RISE works through a wide range of learning centres. Each Learning Action Centre supports a number of Satellite Centres, which include a number of local venues, such as community centres or a local pub. The website is an overview of RISE services and of the 'Digital Learning Passport', designed for the user to keep a record of all their learning and achievements as well as providing access to all of RISE’s facilities.
