This consists of a databse of entries on various writers, works and topics in the literary world. The website includes features on the many editors, and a guide to using the Literary Encyclopedia and Indexes.

The Welsh Biography Online resource takes its contents from the volumes of The Dictionary of Welsh Biography which lists those who have made an unique contribution to Welsh life over seventeen centuries. The first instalment of this electronic version presents the life of those who lived and died between the mid 4th century and 1970. There are over 4,000 biographies online and they include princes, members of the gentry, poets and writers, government officials, ministers, artisans, sportsmen, workers, soldiers, industrialists and farmers. There are biographies to famous Welsh figures such as Owain Glyndwr, Iolo Morganwg or William Morgan and also to many lesser known figures in Welsh life. Welsh Biography Online combines the two volumes, The Dictionary of Welsh Biography down to 1940 and The Dictionary of Welsh Biography, 1941-1970 with the three Welsh language volumes, Y Bywgraffiadur Cymreig hyd 1940, Y Bywgraffiadur Cymreig, 1941 - 1950 and Y Bywgraffiadur Cymreig, 1951 - 1970, all originally published under the auspices of the Honourable Society of Cymmrodorion of London between 1953 and 2001.
